LAPO Combats NCD Prevalence, Screens 116,913 Persons

LAPO has intensified measures aimed at curtailing the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) in target communities across the country.

Between March and April, 2018, the organization screened 116,913 persons and sensitized 136,890 community members generally on various health issues which include HIV, malaria, blood pressure (BP), blood sugar, hepatitis and diabetes.

LAPO empowered 19,124 women with social development skills in March and April 2018to enable them overcome socio-cultural and traditional inhibitions militating against their progress and the realization of their aspirations.


16m Persons Receive Cancer Sensitization, Screening Services

LAPO sensitized over 16 million community members on cancer prevention between March and April 2018 under the LAPO Community Campaign for Cancer Control (LAPO-C4) project in Nigeria. 3,033 persons were screened during the period and 51 referred for treatment.


298,663 Persons Receive Cancer Awareness

LAPO screened 298,663community members for cancer ailments in February, 2018 under the LAPO Community Campaign for Cancer Control (LAPO-C4) in Nigeria. In addition, 35,716 persons benefitted from information, enlightenment and education materials during the period.


LAPO, MWAN Screen Over 105 People On Cancer

LAPO screened 105 community members for cancer-related diseases at the Central Hospital, Benin City as a part of the activities to mark this year’s World Cancer Day. 15 were referred for further medical examination.

The programme, aimed at creating awareness on cancer disease, was organized in conjunction with the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) and others.
