WFI, LAPO-C4 Partner Harps On Regular Cancer Screening

Women Friendly Initiative (WFI), a LAPO-C4 partner NGO in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has urged Nigerians to embrace regular cancer screening towards early detection and treatment of the disease.

Speaking during cancer awareness campaign in Kuje, Abuja, the WFI Director of Programmes, Mrs Frances Teshoma said early detection and treatment would curtail the rising number of deaths and achieve zero level of cancer cases in the country.

Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) improved the reproductive, maternal and child health of 49,481community members across the country with health services in February 2018 with over 43,889 persons screened for various ailments including HIV, malaria, blood pressure, blood sugar and hepatitis.

In February 2018, LAPO sensitized 288 women on rights protection as well as defended those who were unable to afford legal fees.

Legal Aid Manager, Barrister Vera Asenoguan who disclosed this criticized the humiliating and barbaric treatment women are usually subjected to especially at the demise of their husbands.

She stressed that it was offensive and unconstitutional to subject women to any form of abuse under the guise of religious or customary practices.

LAPO Empowered 1,475,951 Community Members with Health, Social Services In 2017

Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) empowered 1,475,951women and other vulnerable community members across the country with health and social services in 2017.

The Executive Director, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo who stated this at the organization’s annual review meeting explained that 397,624 persons received direct services while the rest were reached through information, enlightenment and communication materials.
