LAPO has affirmed that increased awareness of the signs, symptoms and timely diagnosis of cancer ailments will improve survival and has therefore encouraged Nigerians to undertake regular screening for early detection.

LAPOSupports Rural Farmers With N3.2bn

LAPO improved food security as well as enhanced the production capacity of 98,202  rural farmers with a loan disbursement of N3,233,018,500 billion between January and July, 2017.

The Executive Director, Sabina Idowu-Osehobowho disclosed this while reviewing the performance of the LAPO Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative (LARDI), during the period restated the organization’s commitment to Nigerian’ agricultural development. 


LAPO Screens 93,289 Community Members for Tropical Diseases

LAPO has advised women and other members of the public to embrace preventive health care practices including regular medical check up towards mitigating incidence of tropical diseases.

In a statement, Health Manager, Ayobami Honestus Obadiora stated that early detection of health conditions can be life-saving, noting that many people have succumbed to preventable ailments due to ignorance and negligence.


LAPO Empowers 793,957 Women, Others with Social, Health Services

Lift Above Poverty Organization(LAPO) empowered 793,957women and other community members in target communities across the country with health and social services between January and July, 2017.

The Executive Director, Sabina Idowu-Osehobowho stated this at a performance review meeting explained that 187,451 persons received direct services while others were reached through communication and enlightenment publications.


LAPO Gives 1,829 Women Free Legal Support

LAPO defended the rights of 16 women who were unable to afford legal services between January and July, 2017 as well as enlightened 1,829others on various legal matters.

General Manager, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo who disclosed this recently criticized the humiliating and barbaric treatment women are usually subjected especially at the demise of their husbands.

She stressed that it was offensive and unconstitutional to subject women to any form of abuse under the guise of religious or customary practices.


LAPO Screens 17.9m Women, Others for Cancer Ailments

As a part of the efforts to improve the health conditions of rural dwellers, LAPO screened 17,896,311 persons for cancer ailments between January and July, 2017.

The exercise, which consists of awareness creation, screening, and referral services, is designed to assist community members detect cancer early and respond to the challenges through prompt preventive treatment.


LAPO Improves Health Status of 18,377 Community Members

Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) improved the health status of 18,377 community members in May, 2017.

The beneficiaries were sensitized on health matters and screened for common ailments including blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis, HIV and malaria while those with health conditions were refered for treatment.
