LAPO Screens 11,530 Women, Others for Tropical Diseases

LAPO promoted early detection and management of common diseases in Nigeria with the screening of 11,530 women and other beneficiaries for malaria, HIV and other common ailments in May, 2017.

Health Manager, Ayobami Honestus Obadiora who disclosed this in a statement noted  that  non-communicable diseases (NCD) was responsible for about 20% of all deaths and 60% of admitted patients in most tertiary hospitals in Nigeria.

Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) improved the health status of 18,377 community members in May, 2017.

The beneficiaries were sensitized on health matters and screened for common ailments including blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis, HIV and malaria while those with health conditions were refered for treatment.

Edo Govt Partners LAPO, UNICEF

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo says his administration will partner the United Nation’s International Children Education Fund (UNICEF) and Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) to fasttrack the socio-economic development of the state, especially rural areas.

He made the declaration in Government House, Benin while receiving the Founder of LAPO, Dr Godwin Ehigimusoe and his management team.

LAPO Tasks Govt On Cancer Screening Centres, Services

The Executive Director of LAPO, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, has called on government to address the problem of inadequate cancer screening centres especially in rural communities, as well as subsidize treatment for poor and vulnerable patients.

Osehobo who spoke in Benin City during the recent LAPO Annual Media Forum enjoined government to provide and improve healthcare intervention services towards improving the health conditions of the generality of the people.

The Founder of Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO), Godwin Ehigiamusoe has been conferred with an Honorary Degree of Science (D.SC) by the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
