Cancer: Group Tasks Women On Routine Checkups

 

Lift  Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), a Non-Governmental Organisation, (NGO) in Benin, has advised women to go for routine checkups to know their health status in order to avoid cancer.

Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, LAPO Executive Director, Benin, gave the advice during an awareness programme organized by the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Edo on Thursday in Benin.

She said that early detection of any type of cancer was the key to survival.
“Women always visit the hospital regularly for checkups. Majority of women in this part of the world care less about their health status claiming to always be busy.

“Routine checks should be your utmost concern because early detection is better than death.
“For breast cancer, regular checkup in the home is very important. You could lay down and check yourself if there are lumps in your breast,” she said.

She said that one of their aims was to improve the lives of the underprivileged through pioneering services and organising health programs to create awareness. READ MORE
