LAPO Mentor 56 Traditional Birth Attendants On Best Practices
Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) built the capacity of 56 Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) in target communities across the country between January and June, 2021 towards enhancing their capacity to deliver unorthodox health services to women.
The training programme includes mentorship and skill development, early and quality antenatal care, safe motherhood and building referral linkage with trained health care workers in Primary Health Centres (PHCs) even in remote communities.
Executive Director, Dr Honestus Obadiora expressed the organization’s commitment to reducing maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria.
He expressed concern at the high rate of maternal and infant mortality in Africa especially Nigeria due to poor access to quality maternal and child health care, inadequate information and poor birth management.
